Exploration Level Infinity
Kazukikun recently stumbled upon a very interesting nether-region of Mabinogi full of trippy stuff! He invited me along on a Lewis and Clark type expedition into the vast unknown. The following is a pictoral journal of our adventure:

A spirit appeared before me and invited me to cross over to the other side.

A friendly PvP battle atop an arena-like plateu.

This has been a public service announcement.

Our new friend Snowllball.

That last step is a doozy!

Cliffs could be scaled straight up and down.

The edge of the world.

Kazukikun's trusty Uber Chicken got us around the land in a heartbeat.

"You see anyone else down there?"..."Nope."

That's all for this installment of Warren's MMO Adventures, see you next time!

Experience Points
I've recently felt that I've done just about everything there is to do in Mabinogi (not even close, actually), so I've begun to seek out other ways to play the game.
For instance, I didn't realize that pets gain significantly more EXP per kill if you play the pet itself instead of summoning it to fight alongside you. Since my Labrador Retriever, Hyppie, was fairly wimpy I jumped at the opportunity to whip him quickly into fighting shape. Fighting as a dog is a little disorienting, since Hyppie is twice as fast as Warrensworth, and can actually run away from many mobs while Defense is loaded (I'm not sure why I died so much initially even with that advantage). A vampiric brown fox joined me and we raided Math Dungeon without much trouble. When it was all said and done, Hyppie reached level 18 with about 2 days' work.

My four-legged form.
When Iria was first released for Mabinogi, Nexon gave away free Giant and Elf character cards to anyone who travelled to their respective villages and pledged (a fleeting) allegiance to one side in their ongoing war. I obtained my Elf and Giant cards and created Lyrwen the Elf to be a mule for Warrensworth's ore business. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I needed the Extra Storage service to transfer items between their bank accounts, so Lyrwen got to complete the tutorial quests and sat in a closet for 5 or 6 weeks. Recently, in my quest for new experiences in Mabinogi, I logged in as Lyrwen to wander Erinn with a bow and arrow instead of sword and shield. My BFF's Kazukikun and Vampireai joined me for this sweet pic:

The original Three Musketeers: Warrensworth, Vampireai, Kazukikun
Concluding the mini-series soap opera of Warren's MMO Adventures, I got married to Mistresraven (aka Vampireai) at the Church of Lymilark in Emain Macha last week. Her family, the Famous Guild, showed up in droves for the event, while I could only muster 2 guests of my own: Artifex guild leader Ashrayne and my longtime friend Piper1. In a lapse of thinking I didn't take any pictures of the actual ceremony (I think I was caught up in the moment), but I did round up a handful of attendees for a group picture afterwards:

Smile, damnit!
This is definitely a new experience for me in Mabinogi:

Rejected, Dejected, the Unexpected
Last time on Warren's MMO Adventures, Warrensworth had made a startling confession in the Magic School Library...
...Following the brief silence, Ashmaren turned towards the armor-clad boy and revealed that she too felt the same way. A virtual embrace and a rush of blushes later, and the two were off to Emain Macha to make their union official in the eyes of Lord Lymilark. Engaged and elated, the two set off to Port Cean to spend a honeymoon under the stars...
...days passed. The guild acquired new members. Guild dungeon runs were replaced with guild fishing trips:
For Warrensworth, it was life as usual in Erinn alongside his new partner. However, for Ashrayne, life had suddenly began to crumble. Guild members grew unhappy that their leader (whom they secretly harbored their own feelings for) would be officially off-limits. Social dynamics shifted rapidly within Artifex. Her life's work on constructing the perfect guild was in jeopardy--just now understanding the key to the guild's happiness was the ability to chase the elusive Ashrayne.
...It was a sunny day in Dunbarton. Warrensworth was sent a message from an unusually somber Ashrayne. "You're going to really hate me..."
..."I'm rethinking the whole marriage."
...And it was over.
Warrensworth, for all the hurt, understood why it had to happen. The guild must take precedence. Equipping an unremarkable blue robe to perhaps reflect his mood, he retreated to a life of volunteer church work collecting eggs for those even less fortunate than he:
"How's Ash?"
"When's the wedding date?"
His guild members hadn't gotten the news. Each innocent inquiry was a depressing reminder of what was lost and what could have been. To escape it all, he turned to a new family for the chance to simplify his life. Slash. Defend. Smash. Finish. Warrensworth had temporarily banded with some Famous guild adventurers as they delved into Rundal Dungeon:
Winding down his day solemnly overlooking the pristine waters of Emain Macha, Mistresraven caught up with Warrensworth. Hood up, eyes staring into space, she could tell something was bothering him. It was the deflating effect of rejection. She had felt it too, perhaps, on the day he revealed to her that he'd be wed to Ashrayne. The two of them stood amid a stiff summer breeze in silence...
...She stepped forward and clasped her hand in his. There would never be a guild of suitors for her to placate. There wouldn't be official guild business to draw her from the one she desired most...
...He realized that throughout his days on Erinn, there had always been one person who dropped everything and ran, navigated Moon Gates or traversed Mana Tunnels to be beside him...
It was a newbie's lifetime ago that the two had met around Deian's campfire that fateful night in the Tir Chonaill highlands. That fire has long since been extinguished, but its legacy burns on in within them.
